A PORTRAIT A WEEK 30/52

A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013

E loved water since the day you were born. It's fantastic to see him enjoying it without fear, in hot and less hot weather conditions.
It looks like it's his element, so much more than it will ever be mine.

PORTRAIT GALLERY

My friend Giusi posted on her page a picture of this drawing: a portrait of hers I made more than 20 years ago. I believe it was part of a portrait series for the yearly Art Academy's anatomy exam.
I had completely forgotten about it. Funny to suddently see an old work of mine and realize I still kind of like it. Should work more on portraits, I guess.

Interesting enough Giusi posted another portrait done at the time by a friend of ours. Though both are quite resembling the two versions are extremely different in colors. Mine is red and vibrant, the other one is subtle and done in a pail purple palette (not shown here). That is why portraits do fashinate me, how the very same can be seen and portrayed in a very different way.

A PORTRAIT A WEEK 29/52

A portrait of my child, once a week, every week, in 2013

E on his first tree climbing experience. The expression on his face showed clearly he was pushing himself to do something that was super fun but also a little scary. Well done sweety, you have been very brave. I love to see you so happy about yourself when you accomplish something difficult.

Thanks to my friend Stefania who took the picture, I have taken many photos on that day as well but this one is simply too beautiful, I had to choose it for my 52 project. Hope it counts.

THE FLOWER WALK

Dear friends joined us on holiday for the weekend. We took them on a walk where lots of wild flowers covered the hills. Quite dreamy, don't you think?

Picking flowers for mama. He's becoming more and more affectionate the more he grows up... impossible not to feel the heart melting.

UN PAS à LA FOIS

--- image from ---

I'd like to share few pictures of the exhibition about the work Un pas à la fois by Polish illustrator Joanna Concejo -actually living and working in Paris.
The exhibition was held in Bologna last march, sorry I did not get to post about it earlier.
She is  definitely one of my favorite illustrators; I love her poetic drawings, the natural element in her work, the fantastic use of color pencil and graphite, her wonderful imaginary. Hopefully I will be able one day to follow one of her summer illustration courses. This summer she is giving one at La fabbrica delle favole.

The following pictures (not exhibited in the one I have visited) are from her wonderful work The shoes's angel [credits]. An absolute must have, if you ask me.

SUMMER WALK

It will be a green summer, full of walks, nature, relaxing times. Today the 3 of us started summer holidays with a walk in the woods. I absolutely adored the flowers I met on the way, lovely wild ones and magnificent roses with unbelievable scent.

JUNE

have been eating far too many strawberries
my beloved Mr T is finally back home
have celebrated the lovely birthday of a dear young friend

climbers have bloomed lusciously in the garden

first cherries of the year arrived

have refreshed my haircut

have been to another young little guy's birthday, celebrated with a ride to the park and...
... special bubbles
eaten delicious homemade waffles in the park with friends
Despite of a fairly difficult June, nice things did happen around here lately. I am in the mood for summer now. Happy July everyone.
